On 28th July, the signing ceremony of strategic cooperation framework agreement between China Merchants Holdings (International) Company Limited (“CMHI”) and Chu Kong Shipping Development Company Limited (“CKSD”) was held in CMHI Hong Kong Headquarter. Dr. Yu Liming, Vice-Chief Economist of China Merchants Group and Mr. Huang Liezhang, Managing Director of CHU KONG Shipping Enterprises (Holding) Co., Ltd respectively made a speech at the ceremony. Representatives from both sides, Dr.Hu Jianhua, Managing Director of CMHI and Mr. Hua Honglin, Chairman of CKSD signed on the cooperation agreement. Dr. David Deng, CMHI Assistant General Manager presided at the ceremony.
CMHI and CKSD enjoy strong complementary advantages in their business segments and in the areas of strategic development and resources control. The comprehensive marketing, terminal and feeder transportation networks of CKSD are able to provide comprehensive consolidation and distribution supporting services for the Shenzhen Western Port Area controlled by the Company, whereas the Company can make use of its well-developed terminal management and supply chain management experience to enhance the integrated operating efficiency of CKSD. In this regard, the parties have decided to form a strategic alliance. Through the business synergies between the parties and innovation, the parties will jointly establish a premier integrated logistic services system as well as a feeder-carrier-linked port transportation system that is core in hub and supported by the second category port in the Pearl River Delta region. Such systems can enhance the integrated competitiveness of the parties.
