On May 15, the city of Wuhan held an investment promotion event dedicated to central SOEs. The leaders of Wuhan municipal government and over 50 central SOEs participated in the event. Group Chairman Li Jianhong attended the meeting and delivered a speech through videoconferencing. During the event, 37 key projects signed agreements.

Chairman Li Jianhong first paid tribute to the city of Wuhan and its citizens and expressed sincere thanks to the Wuhan government for its support to CMG all along. He added that China Merchants Group has a centuries-old relationship with Wuhan. When CMG officially opened in 1873, its branch in Hankou was already established. Entering the new era, CMG and Wuhan embraced an even closer relationship with a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement signed at the end of 2017. At present, in Wuhan, CMG has an accumulated investment of more than 50 billion yuan, assets value amounts to nearly 255 billion yuan, and annual profits and taxes of almost 10 billion yuan.

Li Jianhong further expressed that CMG has always shown full support to Wuhan's epidemic prevention and control work. Up to now, CMG has donated 221 million yuan to Wuhan, and the subsidiary China Yangtze Shipping Group has operated an average of 180 vessels per day to guarantee the transport of daily necessities and production materials actively. In the next five years, CMG plans to invest more than 100 billion yuan in Wuhan, focusing on six major areas such as comprehensive development of city and industrial park, Yangtze River Transportation, Yangtze River tourism, integrated logistics, financial services and technological innovation.
