From September 21 to 26, Miao Jianmin, Chairman of China Merchants Group, visited Italy and Romania. During the visit, he called on key clients, conducted research on the Group’s overseas business development, and met with local employees.

In Italy, Miao Jianmin called on Dr. Gianluca Grimaldi, Chairman of the Board of Grimaldi Group, Dr. Emanuele Grimaldi, Managing Director, and Eng. Diego Pacella, General Manager. The two sides held in-depth discussions on cooperation in shipbuilding, ship repair, and supply chain. They noted that on the basis of having jointly built more than 30 energy-saving and environmentally friendly, technologically advanced ro-ro vessels, the two sides will continue to uphold the philosophy of “innovation-driven, quality-first” and expand cooperation in cutting-edge fields such as zero-carbon fuels and smart ships. When calling on Paolo Moretti, CEO of RINA, the two sides exchanged views on deepening cooperation in green ships and technological innovation, and witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement between China Merchants Shipbuilding Industry, China Merchants Energy Shipping, and RINA, further consolidating the long-standing strategic partnership between China Merchants Group and RINA. Miao Jianmin also met with Leif Høegh, Chairman of the Board of Höegh Autoliners, and Andreas Enger, CEO. The two sides witnessed the signing of a contract between China Merchants Shipbuilding Industry and Höegh Autoliners for the construction of six 9,100-car carriers, as well as agreements for four optional vessels and four vessel slots. During the visit, Miao Jianmin also called on the headquarters of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti and held talks with Dario Scannapieco, CEO of the institution.
